Blog 10: My blogging experience

Welcome everyone to my blog, this time is a different greeting because this is the last time I do this.

Writing the blogs during this term was definitely something completely new and unthinkable for me. When I knew I had to write the blogs I did not know what to do, I had never done it before! I did not know if I could manage well or what things to tell...

However, once written the first, I felt it was something entertaining, to be able to write about a topic and share one’s ideas with others was interesting, as it allows others to know a little more about me, while at the same time I can also see what other people like or think.

I also feel that as I wrote the blogs, it was increasingly fluid to write and express what I meant, I was also discovering some new words, so I feel that it helped me greatly in this aspect

Personally, I would like there to be something like a "list of topics" of, for example, 20 different and from there the student can freely choose which one he wants to write about in that circumstance. I say this because in my case, if I had been given 100% free theme to write, I would not have known what to write about! It is not easy for me to decide on just one thing, so having a broader but defined list    (or the topics fixed as the case was) would be easier to do.

But as a general comment on blogs, I liked them very much, because they are an instance in which you get a little out of the atmosphere that the university generates and it serves to relax and have some fun.

Blog 9: My favourite animated Disney character

Hello! Welcome once again to my blog.

Today I will share with you who is my favorite animated character of Disney movies.

It is a little complicated for me, since I am not a big fan of these movies, but if I had to pick a character, of all of them I have seen, this could be Baymax of Big Hero 6.

Baymax was conceptualized by Tadashi, his maker, as a healthcare-providing robot nurse, with a goal to improve healthcare around the world. His artificial intelligence comes from a special chip with Tadashi's inscriptions, this chip is equipped with a care-giving matrix, and without it, Baymax can be conceived as an entirely different being. As programming would have, Baymax is instantly summoned by the sound of distress, and can only deactivate once his current patient states "I am satisfied with my care".

I like this character because from the first time he appears on screen, to the last, he is trying to protect and deliver all possible care to Hiro, respecting that purpose above all else, thing that I find striking and captivating. On the other hand, he also has a sense of humor, which makes him even more striking to me.

Blog 8: A subject I enjoy studying

Hi everyone and welcome one more time to my blog, today I am going to tell you why I consider that Chemical Laboratory Techniques was the subject that I enjoyed the most during my first term at the University.

Basically during all my years in school, the classes were theoretical, delivering lots and lots of information, except very few occasions in which I had the opportunity to go to the laboratory and do small experiments. However, I was left wanting more, because it was something out of the ordinary and I was completely fascinated to be able to do, this is why when I entered University and I found that I would have the opportunity to go weekly to the laboratory, developing and knowing new things, I found it completely cool.

Laboratory classes always began with the teacher's demonstration of what we would do at that time and, after giving us the instructions and precautions, we could begin to use the tools of the laboratory to develop certain phenomena.

We started, literally, playing with water, this to get closer to the materials, and later with the time, the laboratories consisted of preparing solutions, distilling them, forming crystals by saturation of a solution, determining how much solute there is in an unknown solution, among others.

I like being able to have this possibility and I am completely expectant of what will be the next subjects related to laboratory work with which I will meet throughout the career.

Blog 7: A scientist whom I admire

Hi everyone, today I am going to talk about a person that I admire; Louis Pasteur.

Louis Pasteur, was born on December 27, 1822 was a french chemist and bacteriologist.

Pasteur in his childhood and adolescence he showed neither great interest nor stood out in the scientific area, however, over the years, and after entering the world of the arts, he became professor of Physics and Chemistry.

At age 32, in  1854, he had already been appointed dean of the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Lille, France. It would be in 1888 when he founded his own institute, which to this day bears his name, and here he was the director until the day of his death, September 28, 1895 caused by a cardiac arrest.

Among his main contributions to the world of science, we can find:

• Discovery and development of the pasteurization process, which consists in a technique of thermal treatment to foods (usually liquids) for the elimination of microorganisms.
• Refute through experimentation the theory of "Spontaneous generation", which established that certain life forms arose spontaneously from organic matter.
• Discover that infectious diseases are caused by microorganisms.

Personally, I like Pasteur because, regardless that in his time he did not have great technological advances, like the ones that we have today, he managed to develop techniques and research which were the basis of what exist today, being a pioneer of great advances that have helped society in an excellent way. It also causes intrigue, given that if under those possibilities he managed to develop his studies, what would he have been able to discover in the current world? The same question comes to me with great minds like Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, among others, who stood out in their time thanks to their intelligence and who, had they had greater technological support, could have achieved incredible discoveries.

                                                            

Blog 6: A place I'd like to visit

Today I want share with you many places that I think are completely fantastic.

I have on mind two options but I just can talk about one, however I am going to tell you which places are. First I have Machu Pichu, Cuzco, Perú, but I believe that everyone knows what is this, so I am going to talk about my second option: Summerland, British Columbia, Canada.

Probably you have no an idea about this town, but I can not judge you because this year I only met a little bit about Summerland, but the things that I heard got me fascinated.

Summerland is a town on the west side of Okanagan Lake, this is approximately 425km away from the east of Vancouver. In summer the temperature in this place is, commonly, 21°C and this, added to the grasslands, the situation with the lake and sandy beaches, are a reason of why the town is popular and tourism is a good industry. Also this is home to one Canada's largest wine industries.

My story with this place started in January, I returned to Santiago from my holidays in Antofagasta and when I came home, the person that was in the house told me that "a friend that she met in Budapest, was coming to Chile in the next days" and just like she said, in three days, Matt arrived at my house. I never before had been in that situation, practically living with a foreigner that almost could not speak Spanish!  So all the interactions that I had with him, were in English and, a day, I asked him "where are you from?" and  in that moment, Summerland appeared in my life. The description that he made had everything that I like, a country life, with grasslands everywhere, small town with nice people... absolutely fantastic!

 So, since this day, I have in my plans someday in the future travel to Canada and visit Summerland.

Blog 5: My favourite photography

Hi everyone, today I'm going to share with you a little bit of the things that I think about photographs.

Really, I'm not the kind of person who fall in love easy with photographs, neither I'm constantly taking selfies or pics of landcapes. But sometimes I can see some pics that let me completely surprised, an example of this pics, are all of them that are based on the universe.

In January of this year, most precisely, on the night of the 20th and early morning of the 21st, there was a lunar eclipse in Chile. This phenomenon extends for a long time, allowing to take a lot of pics of the moon.

My cousin, Nicolás, that night take a pic completely amazing, that shows a moment where the eclipse had, aproximate, a 50% covered to the moon.

When I see the pictures, I fall in love inmediatly, because everything related to the universe is, for me, completely fascinating and to be able to appreciate a phenomenon like this with my own eyes and without effort is a great experience and, by the sameway, achieve a memory like this in a photograph, is something completely incredible.

This is the reason why I consider the "lunar eclipse" pictures from my cousin, like one of my favourite photographs.

Blog 4: My favourite series

What's my favourite series?

In the past, my free time was completely dedicated to watching series, for example I have in my "watched series list"  creations like; Breaking Bad, Vikings, The Walking Dead (not complete because the last seasons are so boring), Casa de Papel, but a serie that I really love and reciently started to watching is Peaky Blinders, although I just watched a season, this is so good to the moment and the next season has high expectations.

It's a serie created by Steven Knight and produced by Caryn Mandabach, that's  basically  based in the story of the Shelby's family and how them become in one of the most important betting house in the post WWI England.  They are from Birmingham and at the start just have a small not established betting house, but the first season share to the viewers the way that the Shelby's follow to,  step by step, sometimes using the strong or just using the smart of the gang's leader Tommy Shelby, be the most important business of the area.

Even though the story is great, one of the best plots that I've watched, an important reason of why this is my favourite serie is the environment, this is because it gives us the vision of how lives in a post world war country were, with the craziest ex soldiers, the cloths, cars, houses, how to operate the gangs and a lot of little details that make each scene something wonderful.

If somebody asks me what series I recommend, without thinking about it I'll answer "Peaky Blinders"

Blog 3: My favourite piece of technology

Currently it's so hard find a person that doesn't use any kind of technology, this is because the society that we have is basicly based in the use, creation and upgrade of different technological devices.

Personally, I don't feel the same devotion that other people of my same age have with the technology and all things that this includes, maybe I enjoy playing videogames on my playstation and spend some time playing there, but with the time I can see that isn't good for me for a lot of reasons, so I quit this "hobbie"

Also I don't use computers, because I can't feel a connection with this that say me "Oh, i really need to use this" so the only reason that I have to use a computer is to do the homework that the teachers send to us (the students)

But the technological device that I have with me every time is the cellphone, however I don't do that because I can't survive 10-15 minutes without use that to watch the apps like Instagram or Facebook, I use my cellphone everyday because of this; first, it's small so I don't have problems to put it in my pocket; second, as my parents live away, the only way that I have to talk with them is by cellphone and because in case of emergency is a good way to contact my family or to talk with my friends; third, I can see the info and material that teachers share to study; finally, when I'm coming to the university I spend 70-90 minutes, that's so boring so I come listening to music and sometimes playing games to make my travel a little bit more funny.

Considering all of this, I can say that my favorite piece of technology is the cellphone.

Blog 2: Why did I chose this career?

Hi everyone, welcome one more time to my blog.

Today i'm going to share why I chose my career.

When I was a child, everything related to chemistry always caught my attention because with this u can do everything that u want or can understand things that are a complete mistery.

A few years later, I knew that  the girlfriend of my uncle had studied to be a pharmaceutical chemist and she told to me a little bit about the things that this professional can do and this seemed to me completely fantastic.

In the secundary education, i had problems to decide what I could study, this because I wanted to be part of the Policía de Investigaciones (PDI), because two of my neighbors were part of this institution so I had them as an example. However, the past year I was able research about different things related to chemistry with that I really understand how I can use that and the idea of put this on action are a big motivation to me, because with different things that the people don't know, but that I know, I hope can help them someway.

Also I have the idea of joining my two "passions", chemistry and PDI, through this career because I have options of join this institution by the criminal area.

That's all about why i chose this career.

Blog 1: My autobiography

My autobiography

My name is Camilo Antonio Flores Sepúlveda, i'm 18 years old, i was born in the Parroquial Hospital in San Bernardo on September 22nd of 2000.

My family is compound by my two brothers, Cristian (22 years old) and Sebastian (26 years old), my mom is Angelica, she is 50 years old and my father's name is Roberto, he is 49 years old.

Currently I live in San Bernardo only with my brother Sebastian, his girlfriend and their daughter, Renata, who is 6 years old. My mom lives in Antofagasta, Chile, since one year ago, and my dad lives in Ovalle, Chile, since, approximately, five years ago.

I started my studies in the "Escuela República del Brasil N°3", after I change to "Roberto Lorca" school, to finally conclude my secundary education at the "Liceo Nacional Bicentenario de Excelencia (LNBE)". Now I'm studying Chemistry and Pharmacy in Universidad de Chile.  

In my free time, i don't really do a lot of things, but I can say that I enjoy playing with the rubik cube and videogames, my favorite videogames is the saga of GTA. Sometimes too I go to play football with my ex-classmates. Now i'm playing handball for the team of my faculty in the university.
